HARLEY OWNERS CLUB, MANCHESTER

July 2006
In July 2006, Harley Owners Club, Manchester celebrated its 10th birthday. As part of the celebrations, we held a "bit of a do" at "The Ferry Tavern" on the banks of the Manchester Ship Canal in Warrington.
To make it a more worthwhile occasion, we made the party a fundraising event and all profits were donated to "The Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Trust" based at the Warrington Peace Centre. This centre was set up some years ago following the IRA explosion in Warrington town centre in 1993 when the two young boys, Tim Parry and Johnathan Ball lost their lives.

On one of the
hottest days
during July
the
Manchester Harley
Owners Club

organised an event at The Ferry Tavern in Penketh, Warrington
to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Club and raise money
for charity. Dave Cook, who has been a long time supporter of
the Trust, Ken Stoll and Kenny Crosby, worked extremely hard to make the day a huge success. According to the Police, who were assigned to the event, an estimated 500 bikers and 1700 visitors had taken part in the celebration.

Jan 2007
In November 2006, one of our Club members, Sue Sloan, saw an item on the children's program "Blue Peter" about collecting and recycling unwanted shoes in an effort to help some of the children in Malawi, one of the poorest countries in the world.
Sue suggested that maybe HOC Manchester could help in some small way. Our President, Rob, then took hold of the reins and requested all Members to bring in as many pairs of unwanted, serviceable shoes as we could and we would have a ride to BBC Manchester to donate them.
This ride took place on the 27th January when we donated approximately 280 pairs of shoes. Only a drop in the ocean towards "Blue Peter's" target of 1,000,000 pairs, but every drop helps, and already the million target has been broken with the Appeal staying open until October 2007.
