HARLEY OWNER’S CLUB

Minutes of Club Meeting – 14 April 2009

Committee Present: R Lea
D Lea

RL opened the meeting and welcomed all members.
Also welcome were Tracy and a new potential member – Graham.

RL advised that RL/DL had gone to the Frodsham swap meet and
arrived by 11am, by which time it had finished and they were all in the pub!!

Kickstart at Moore Rugby Club – very good do and great to see people again.
NWHC Egg Run last weekend went very well – over 200 bikes.
Excellent marshalling, really professional.

Sunday 19 April – Ridesafe rally in Blackpool – rideout will leave Tickled
Trout @ 11am.

25 April – Stafford Classic Rally

3 May – next HOC rideout to York (bank holiday weekend) – leaving
Tickled Trout @ 11am.

9 May – Hayfield Carnival – Dave C to ring the mayor’s office to ask if
our presence is required this year?

22-23 May – Wrecking Crew have now moved their rally from Banks to the Leisure Lakes centre (only about a mile…!).
22-25 May – HOC goes to Scotland!!!

19 June – Deva Legion rally (£20 weekend).

Merchandise – DL asked if members would be interested in club belt buckles (NHC have a supplier) – Coffee mugs also suggested. DL to enquire.

RL advised that there is currently a contradiction between the MOT trade and the police with what exactly is the correct requirement on number plates, their size, lettering and what else needs to be shown on the plate.
RL recommended checking before buying plates in future.

Barry D advised that several clubs had cancelled dos this year, or had
to change dates or venues.
In general, attendances seem to be down at most events.
However, the Southport chalet rally seems to have bucked the trend and
been a big success, probably for 2 reasons – 1) nothing else on at that
time of the year (pre-season) and 2) it was very cheap!!

BD also advised that HD are increasing prices of new big twins by 10%
and sportsters by 5% - this is to stop Europeans coming over here and
buying all the bikes up, to take advantage of the exchange rate.

Bill Grady is apparently still selling parts from his house and has a lot of Evo stuff.

DL advised that she had recently purchased a set of indicator lights (4)
bullet style, for £111 (free shipping and no VAT).
The same parts found in Preston HD were priced at £222!!! Worth checking out the Jersey HD website…

Next meeting Tuesday 5 May @ 8.00pm at Sam Platts.

Meeting note; Dave and Linda, the managers of Sam Platts who have been very good to HOC over the years, have unfortunately left the pub, due to a dispute with the owner.
Fortunately, Ian (who ran the catering side with them) is still there and he and the new manager – Alan Owen – are happy for us to continue meeting there every first Tuesday – (phew, what a relief!!)
